A day for specialist trainees in Histopathology to air their doubts and difficulties in Cytology. Experienced teachers in the field will offer guidance on training and the examination. Areas covered will include the College curriculum for Cytology, the approach to the Cytology component of the MRCPach examination, expressing degrees of (un)certainty in reports, the role of Cytology in the clinical setting including MDTs and understanding the Cervical Screening Programme.
Workshops in the afternoon will cover Cervical Cytology including LBC and a range of topics in Non-Gynae Diagnostic Cytology.
Concessional rates apply for both tutorials to BMSs and trainee pathologists. CPD approval has been applied for.

This meeting will appeal to those who are considering training as, or undergoing training to be, an Advanced Biomedical Scientist Practitioner (AP) as well as those who are already qualified.
Eminent speakers will cover topics such as dispelling the myths surrounding the examination, what is required of the pathologist mentor, ongoing training following qualification, personal experiences of working as an AP, varied outcomes following Agenda for Change. We will also provide an insight into the changes we can expect in the future for both Gynae and Non-Gynae Cytology, such as - examination structure, requirements of post-holders, advice from the professional bodies.
The aim is provide helpful, practical advice for those wishing to take the AP examination but will also be useful for those currently in post.
Case discussion - MDT type discussion of non-correlating Cytology/Histology/Colposcopy and other interesting cases. Images and patient history will be circulated on CD-ROM prior to the meeting.
Workshop - LBC (SurePath and ThinPrep) and conventional samples of the type seen in the screening section of the examination: images and glass slides will be used.
